Your satisfaction is our priority. Always. That is why respect for your privacy and the protection of your personal data are paramount at Belfius Immo.
We process your data in order to offer you products, innovative digital tools, services and information that really matter to you. Respect for your privacy is our top priority. That is our commitment.
That is why we have drawn up this Privacy Charter. We want to provide you with clear information about how we protect your privacy and how we take your preferences into account. Your personal data will not be sold to third parties. And we consistently monitor compliance with this charter.
This charter applies to various categories of persons whose personal data we collect and process:
- private and professional clients of Belfius Immo
- prospects
- persons, whether or not they are customers, who contact Belfius Immo themselves
So you can rest assured: just as we do with your money, we also guarantee the security of your personal data.
1. Who is responsible for processing your personal data?
Belfius Immo PLC (hereinafter ‘Belfius Immo’), with registered office at Karel Rogierplein 11 – 1210 Brussels.
This charter informs you about the processing of your personal data for which Belfius Immo is responsible.

The regulations on the processing of personal data only apply to natural persons and persons representing a legal entity such as a company, municipality or association.
The regulations do not apply to the legal entity itself.
2. What does the processing of personal data entail?
Personal data includes all information about you as an identified or identifiable natural person. This may include contact details, an identification number, financial data, insurance data, geographical data, online identification data or any other personal data.
The processing of personal data includes any possible operation on this data, such as its collection, recording, use or storage.
Belfius Immo processes your personal data for various purposes (see point 5 of this Privacy Charter), on various legal grounds (see point 6), and ensures that only the necessary data is processed.
3. What personal data is processed?
This may concern both your personal data and external data that Belfius Immo combines with your personal data. Below you will find details of exactly which data this concerns.
3.1 Your personal data
Personal data in the context of your private and/or professional customer relationship with Belfius Immo
- identification details such as your surname and first name, address, email address, telephone and/or mobile number, etc.
- data relating to your (browsing) behaviour on the Belfius Immo website: consulting data, simulations, purchases or requests, responses to commercial proposals such as clicking or not clicking on advertisements on the website of origin (e.g. the website where you clicked on the Belfius Immo advertisement)…
- data related to our satisfaction surveys
- data obtained via cookies, which may provide information about your preferences, for example, or statistical information. You can find more information about this on our websites, for example at belfiusimmo.be/cookies
- all other information or data necessary for evaluating the continuation of the customer relationship
Data specific to prospects
- personal data that you provide to Belfius Immo before entering into a contractual customer relationship with Belfius Immo. This includes your identification details, your contact details and data relating to a simulation or a (proposed) contract.
3.2 External data that Belfius combines with your personal data
- data relating to the condition and value of immovable property, cadastral information
- statistical information as provided by the Belgian statistical office Statbel
4. When do we collect your personal data?
We collect your data when you come into contact with Belfius, for example when you:
- become a customer or we add you as a prospect to our files
- contact us (for example, by telephone or via our digital assistant) or if we contact you
- participates in a Belfius Immo event
5. Why do we process your personal data?

- Providing contractually agreed services, preparing contracts at your request and handling the associated accounting and/or administrative matters.
- the management of your customer file (contracts and services)
- the start-up, management and implementation of non-financial services
- the conclusion, management and execution of real estate transactions
- Protecting Belfius Immo, our customers and the public
- the prevention of money laundering, fraud and terrorist financing
- the prevention and detection of market manipulation and insider trading
- compliance with various legal obligations and provisions, and with tax obligations
- responding to justified requests from judicial or supervisory authorities to access
the data - administration and risk management
- the safety of persons and goods
- Maintaining and improving Belfius Immo’s products and services, or developing new products and services
- the continuous improvement of our services, channels and processes
- the satisfaction surveys concerning our products and services
- evaluating or adjusting the strategy of Belfius Immo
- Personalising your user experience and our communications in accordance with your personal preferences
- pre-filling of already known data, when requesting additional products or services or when performing simulations
- avoiding asking questions whose answers we could already deduce ourselves
- direct marketing, to offer you personalised property transactions and to avoid offering you
products or services that are not relevant to you
Through direct marketing, we can:
- process your customer data (automatically) to determine general or specific customer profiles
- better assess your needs and tailor our offering accordingly
- To contact you
- Through a Belfius Immo employee
- By telephone, (video) chat
- Via your email address
- Via the digital channels of Belfius Immo
- the development of models and advanced analyses, whether or not based on artificial intelligence (AI)
6. What is the legal basis for the processing of your personal data?
Belfius Immo will only process your personal data in one of the following cases:
- when Belfius Immo has requested your consent for this and you (or your legal representative) have given it to us. You may withdraw this consent at any time. This withdrawal applies only to the period after the withdrawal and therefore does not affect the lawfulness of the processing that took place up to the moment of withdrawal
- when Belfius Immo executes a contract or pre-contractual measure
- when Belfius Immo is legally or statutorily obliged to do so
- based on a ‘legitimate interest’, whereby Belfius Immo carefully weighs up the interests of Belfius Immo and your interests, including the protection of your privacy
Legitimate interests include:
- the prevention of fraud and abuse
- the security of the network and IT systems, preventing unauthorised access, viruses and service attacks that could damage the IT systems
- dispute management
- the evaluation of the overall customer relationship
- offering products or services that match your needs and desires as closely as possible
- improving processes and applications
- training and developing models and applications based on artificial intelligence (AI)
- the creation of studies, models and statistics
- creating synergies, efficiency gains or other organisational or process-related benefits
- direct marketing
- conducting (satisfaction) surveys
7. To whom may we disclose your personal data?
Belfius Immo does not sell your personal data outside the Belfius group for commercial purposes by other companies.
- The Belfius group
The Belfius Group mainly comprises Belfius Bank and its independent network of branches (agents-mandatories), Belfius Insurance, Belfius Asset Management, Crefius, Elantis, Belfius Lease, Belfius Lease Services, Belfius Auto Lease, Belfius Commercial Finance, Belfius Asset Finance Holding, VDL-Interass, Bureau Laveaux & Martin, Qualitass, Jaimy, Belfius Insurance Services Finance, Belfius Financing Company, Belfius Immo, Belfius Ireland Unltd, etc. The composition of the Belfius group is, of course, subject to change.
The companies and employees within the Belfius group only have access to your data if this is necessary for the performance of their duties (e.g. to determine insurance rates).
- Specific service providers
Sometimes, for operational reasons, we need to call on carefully selected organisations outside our group.
We may also collaborate with external parties for specific services, such as advertising, event and research agencies, ICT service providers, online and social network providers, security personnel, solicitors, bailiffs, debt collection agencies, etc.
In the context of audits and in order to obtain and maintain certain certificates and quality labels, we sometimes have to exchange data with external parties, mainly audit firms or other independent control bodies, which check our internal operations to verify that we meet the necessary quality requirements.
Persons authorised to use your data may only do so within the strict limits of their specific contractual or legal assignment.
If we engage a company outside the European Economic Area, we only do so if we obtain guarantees that your personal data will be protected to the same level as within the EU.
- Government agencies
- In specific cases governed by law, Belfius Immo must disclose information to the financial information processing unit or to judicial authorities or supervisory bodies.
8. What are your rights when your personal data is processed?
- Your rights regarding Belfius Immo
You have the right to access your personal data. This means that you will receive confirmation as to whether or not your personal data is being processed and will be given access to a general overview.
You have the right to correct and delete your personal data. If your personal data is incorrect, incomplete or irrelevant, or if you want it to be deleted, you can have it changed, supplemented or, if the law allows it, deleted.
In certain cases, you also have the right to request a restriction on the processing of your data for a specific service and the right to object to the use of your data on the basis of legitimate interest (see point 6).
You have the right to transfer personal data. Under certain conditions, you may have certain data that you have provided to us transferred to another controller or to yourself.
You have the right to object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing purposes. You can indicate at any time that you do not want us to collect, store and process your data for direct marketing purposes. You will then no longer receive commercial offers.
You have the right not to be subject to fully automated individual decision-making. Certain data processing operations and processes are fully automated without human intervention. This enables us, for example, to respond even more quickly to certain credit or insurance applications or, in the case of card transactions, to detect and prevent fraud and other general risks. If you disagree with the result of such a fully automated process, you can always contact us.
- Your rights with regard to third parties with whom Belfius Immo collaborates
When personal data is exchanged with third parties on your initiative, you will be able to exercise your rights with regard to those parties in accordance with their privacy statements, which will be communicated to you. If you wish to correct or delete data, Belfius Immo will make reasonable efforts to inform those third parties.
- Your rights depending on the person or entity you represent
The regulations concerning the protection of privacy and your rights in this regard only apply to natural persons who either represent themselves, represent another natural person, or represent a legal entity such as a company, municipality or association.
The regulations do not apply to the legal entity itself.
The exercise of your rights is always linked to one person or entity that represents you at that moment.
Specifically:
- Exercising your right to correct or delete your personal data is limited to the person or entity that you represent at that time. It is your responsibility to explicitly inform Belfius Immo who you represent when exercising this right
- you can manage your preferences regarding direct marketing, use of click and surfing behaviour, transaction data and communication channels separately for each person or entity you represent
- How can I exercise my rights?
There are several ways to exercise the above rights:
- by email to infobelfiusimmo@belfius.be (with a copy of the front of your identity card attached)
- by letter (with a copy of the front of your identity card attached) to Belfius – for the attention of the DPO, Brussels National Airport 1K – 1930 Zaventem
Section 7.2 provides more information on how you can exercise your rights vis-à-vis specific service providers.
- Right to lodge a complaint
If you have a complaint about the exercise of your rights, our Complaints Management department is there to help you. You can submit a complaint via infobelfiusimmo@belfius.be.
If the above contact points were unable to provide a satisfactory response, you can contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO) by writing to the following address: Belfius Immo – for the attention of the DPO, Brussels National Airport 1K – 1930 Zaventem, or by sending an email to immo.privacy@belfius.be (with a copy of the front of your identity card).
If you disagree with Belfius’ position or wish to lodge a complaint, please contact the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
- Your responsibility
You are responsible for keeping your details as accurate and up to date as possible. Therefore, please notify us of any changes in good time, for example in the event of a move, marriage, divorce, etc.
You are responsible for keeping your private and professional contact details separate (see point 8.3).
9. How long will your personal data be stored?
We only store your personal data for a specific and clearly defined purpose. There are minimum retention periods for certain data and maximum retention periods for other data. Customer data is stored for operational, legal or evidentiary reasons, among other things. Except for specific deviating legal retention periods, data is generally stored for up to 10 years after the end of the contractual customer relationship. Data relating to business claims is retained for a period of 30 years.
Belfius Immo retains data relating to prospects for a maximum of 13 months.
In order to carry out certain studies, risk or marketing models, insights can only be gained within a broader time frame. For this purpose, certain data may be retained for a longer period.
